The Design Process

At RTA Studio we offer a wide range of architectural services - design and drawings are part of what we do, but only part. Read the brief description below of what our services entail, then contact us for more information and answers to your specific questions.

Every project starts the same way, with a no-cost consultation (depending on your location). Whether you know a lot or a little about what you want to do, we'll help you decide what your next steps should be. And you don't need to wait until you're ready to start before contacting us, either - even if your project is down the road a ways, we can help you plan a long-term schedule.

Your project gets underway with Pre-Design - we'll discuss your needs, budget, and timeframe and write it all down in a program for you to review.

We'll also examine your building site in detail and prepare an analysis showing all of the important features that can impact the design of your home.

For a remodeling project we'll measure and digitally photograph the house and prepare "existing conditions" drawings that we'll use throughout the design process.

The Preliminary Design Phase is the when sketches and ideas begin appearing on paper and you start seeing the project take shape.

But we don't work alone; your constant involvement in the design process is essential. We'll go back and forth a few times, until we arrive at a design we all like, and a preliminary construction cost that's within your budget range.

Desert Home Design

Design Development takes your design to a greater level of detail throughout. We'll look at the important architectural details of the interior and exterior of your home.

With these more detailed drawings in hand, we'll be able to give you a more accurate projection of the construction cost and procede to the next phase with confidence.

Contruction Documents are prepared once all of the design decisions are made. The construction drawings are well-detailed to ensure that we get accurate, competetive prices from our bidders and clear communication to the builder of what we're trying to accomplish.

Construction can begin once we've analyzed the bids and helped you select your contractor.

During construction we'll be on site on a regular basis as your expert "eyes and ears" on the jobsite, monitoring workmanship, schedule, and cost and generally helping to assure that the project is built as designed.
