This remodeling began with an unfinished attic above the garage that the owners really hoped to finish and use for extra living space in their house. There were two tiny windows into this space, so we added some larger windows and a dormer which allowed for more light into the space and more height to the room.
The stairway to the first floor was very important to connect the new room to the existing house. Instead of just making a stairway, we thought - what more could this space be? So, the stair also doubles as a book storage space. Built-ins are created wherever possible.
The mudroom on the first floor used to be a laundry room. This remodel moved the laundry space so that you can get to the loft area and in and out of the house without tripping over laundry baskets. It's a completely functional, yet beautiful space to enter into.
